Gruppo B&T and Digital Design at MDW26 with KANSO

A demonstration of how aesthetics and technological innovation can redefine materials and push the boundaries of contemporary surfaces.

Gruppo B&T’s participation in Milan Design Week 2026 demonstrated the value of a project capable of engaging with contemporary design through technological expertise.

Hosted at Interno 18 in the heart of the Fuorisalone, the KANSO installation – created by Digital Design’s graphic studio as part of the “CODE. Nothing Random” project – reimagined material as a narrative element. The installation resonated with the highly diverse audience, standing out for its ability to seamlessly combine aesthetics and technology.

One of the most striking elements on show was the KANSO kitchen by Digital Design, a minimalist, tactile monolith that embraces simplicity as a radical statement. With its deep textures and natural surfaces, KANSO stands as an architectural presence, a perfect balance between solid and void where matter returns to its original purity.

The surfaces at the heart of the project demonstrated Gruppo B&T’s technological expertise in the use of advanced processes such as full-body decoration, digital glue and grit applications, and three-dimensional structures with unprecedented depth and fidelity. Their striking aesthetic realism left many visitors in disbelief at how closely these surfaces resemble natural stone, a clear indication of a level of quality that expands the traditional limits of ceramics.

Supera® pressing technology and the Dune and Lapis through-body decoration systems attracted particular interest for their ability to handle material inclusions while achieving highly realistic surfaces. This approach reaffirmed Gruppo B&T’s position as a company capable of controlling the entire creative and production workflow, transforming a technical slab into an authentic design object.

In the KANSO project, the ceramic surface becomes a bridge to industrial innovation, transforming design into a manifesto of Digital Design’s creativity and Gruppo B&T’s technical expertise.

Following the success of the installation, numerous industry professionals requested visits to bt-LAB to observe the pilot lines in operation and gain a deeper understanding of the interplay between research and technology that underpins solutions like KANSO.

Thanks to its integrated expertise, Digital Design is able to work with all types of ceramic bodies and surfaces, expanding the material’s conventional boundaries and transforming it into an advanced, high-performance design element.

In line with Gruppo B&T’s goal of “expanding limits and transforming possibility into reality”, the project underscores the group’s role as a strategic partner capable of redefining the future of surfaces and translating every creative insight into a tangible result.
