Advanced environmental protection and energy savings with AI

Cami Depurazioni Green Technology presents GAIA, a project based on artificial intelligence and neural networks that will be officially launched at TECNA 2026.

Sustainability, efficiency and process control play a key role in reducing costs and enhancing competitiveness in the ceramic industry. In response to these needs, Cami Depurazioni Green Technology supplies integrated solutions for flue gas treatment, dust extraction and filtration, heat recovery, pneumatic conveying and cleaning, water treatment and waste recovery. Each system is developed on the basis of audits, feasibility studies and bespoke design.

This experience has led to the creation of GAIA, a project designed to steer Cami’s technology towards a new generation of intelligent systems. Based on artificial intelligence and neural networks, GAIA analyses process data, recognises recurring patterns, identifies anomalies and anticipates critical variations. Rather than simply monitoring, it learns from the system’s operation and transforms the collected data into useful insights to optimise consumption, performance and maintenance.

GAIA can be applied to all types of plants and systems.

Flue gas treatment

In flue gas treatment plants, where Cami combines physical filtration and chemical abatement with loss-in-weight gravimetric dosing, GAIA improves precision in the use of reagents such as bicarbonate or hydrated lime. By analysing temperature, flow rate, vacuum pressure, emissions and operating conditions, the system recommends more effective dosages, thereby reducing waste and costs.

Extraction and filtration

In dust extraction and filtration systems, AI can predict performance drops, clogging, pressure loss and fan anomalies, facilitating targeted interventions and production continuity.

Heat recovery

In heat recovery systems, GAIA analyses heat exchange and supports more efficient management of the energy contained in flue gases, transferring it to reusable clean air.

Pneumatic conveying

In dense and dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems used for waste, raw materials and recycled materials, GAIA monitors pressures, cycles, flow rates and consumption, helping to prevent blockages and operational instability.

Water treatment

Water treatment also plays a strategic role. In lapping departments and wastewater treatment processes, GAIA monitors turbidity, flow rate, pressure, filtration cycles, additives and water quality. Predictive analysis optimises the use of chemical agents, reducing overdosing and waste, and identifies variations liable to compromise process stability or final water quality.

Pneumatic cleaning

Finally, in pneumatic cleaning systems GAIA serves as an advanced tool for monitoring continuity, consumption and stability.

Official launch at TECNA 2026

With GAIA, Cami transforms environmental technology into a predictive platform that ensures greater control, less waste, smarter maintenance and truly measurable sustainability. It represents a new frontier where environmental technology becomes interactive, intelligent, efficient and cost-effective.

GAIA will be officially presented on 22 September at Tecna 2026 in Rimini, the perfect venue for showcasing the benefits of integrating AI into ceramic technology.
