Imerys Group reports growth
Although the overall result remained positive, the excellent first-quarter performance (sales growth of 9.6%) was diminished by the downturn in the second quarter (-2.8%).
Some 26% of the 1,486.3 million euro consolidated sales consists of the activities of the Specialty Minerals division which includes raw materials for the ceramic industry.
This sector reported sales of 401.1 million euro, slightly down on the first half of 2004. The result would be almost unchanged if considered on a constant exchange rate basis. The main European ceramic markets have remained stable.
In July the Imerys Group finalised the acquisition of World Minerals, which with sales of USD 286 million is one of the world’s largest producers of minerals for beverage filtration.
