Meccanica 2P: innovation and international growth

The Italian company specialising in cutting machines, production plants and automation systems for the heavy clay industry is strengthening its presence in international markets with new installations in Europe, Africa and South America.

With fifty years of experience, Meccanica 2P is a leading manufacturer of cutting machines, production plants and automation systems for the clay brick and roof tile industry. Combining technical expertise, continuous innovation and the ability to respond to market needs, the company has built up a leading position not only in the Italian market but also in Europe, North Africa and South America, with major projects in France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Mexico.

Cutting technology has always been the company’s core business. Driven by ongoing technological research, Meccanica 2P produces advanced cutting systems for a range of applications. One of its latest orders was for a roof tile cutting line equipped with an electronic die, designed to produce roof tiles with or without nibs for a Spanish manufacturer. Also in Spain, a cutting line for ventilated façade products is already in operation, while in Portugal a cutting line for brick slips has recently been commissioned, reflecting the growing demand for solutions for modern construction systems and innovative architectural applications.

Over the years, the company has progressively expanded its portfolio with plants and automated systems designed to optimise the entire production process. In the Italian market, Meccanica 2P recently built and commissioned two automation systems for roof tile handling. The first is a gripping device for unloading fired roof tiles from kiln cars, while the second – installed at Cotto Cusimano’s facility in Calabria – is an automatic loading system for placing dried roof tiles onto kiln cars.

Meccanica 2P has several new projects underway, including a new cutting line for solid and hollow clay bricks currently in the final manufacturing stages which will be installed and tested in Peru by the company’s specialist engineers.
